The Lira Akiibua Olympic Stadium Earthworks project is a crucial component of the development of a state-of-the-art sports facility in Lira City, Northern Uganda. The project aims to lay the groundwork for the construction of an Olympic-standard stadium, named in honor of the late John Akiibua, Uganda’s Olympic gold medalist and one of the country’s most celebrated athletes. The stadium is intended to serve as a hub for regional and international sporting events, contributing to the promotion of sports and youth development in Uganda.
The Earthworks phase focuses on preparing the site for the next stages of construction, including the installation of foundational infrastructure, drainage systems, and the development of the stadium’s seating, pitch, and surrounding facilities. This will involve significant excavation, grading, and leveling to ensure that the foundation can support the weight and structure of the complex.
